REMAIN study
Start date: September 2022
The REMAIN study aims at establishing what degree of protection against the acquisition of Monkeypox is conferred by the vaccine that is currently being administered, as well as to dig deeper into the current knowledge about the factors that facilitate the transmission of the disease. This is of particular relevance given the growing expansion of the infection worldwide.
The study intends to enroll 4.638 volunteers within the cluster where the infection is spreading at large: CIS men who have sex with men and trans women.
The study is implemented in collaboration with an extensive network of hospitals, sexual health units and academic institutions, in addition to the public health agencies of Catalonia and Madrid. Most importantly, it incorporates civil society organizations dealing with sexual health and with the defense and promotion of the rights of the LGTB+ community.
