Bàrbara Baró is a postdoctoral research fellow working in the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) in the field of public health and malaria. She collaborates in the development and coordination of COVID19 clinical trials in the Fight AIDS and Infectious Diseases Foundation/Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital.

Bàrbara has extensive research experience in relation to malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum and vivax infection. Since 2018, she works at ISGlobal, where she implements clinical and epidemiological trials to test the safety and effectiveness of drugs in the context of mass drug administration for endemic infections. She is also involved in validation of new diagnostic platforms for malaria and other infectious diseases.

Bàrbara is a Biotechnician with MsC in Biomedical Research and a PhD in Biomedicine. She is currently a Beatriu de Pinós fellow, granted by the Government of Catalonia’s Secretariat for Universities and Research, and by Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions COFUND Programme.
