Maria Ubals

Maria Ubals is a dermatologist currently doing her postgraduate training as a PhD student with Rio Ortega Fellowship at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital. At present, she conducts research to identify alternative treatments for syphilis and yaws in the framework of the Trep-AB project.

She has always been interested in skin infections and STIs. She has volunteered in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and has done a clinical rotation in Papua New Guinea, expanding her knowledge about Skin Neglected Tropical Diseases and Global Health.

She graduated from the University of Barcelona School of Medicine (2013) and completed the residency in Dermatology and Venereology in Vall d'Hebron University Hospital (Barcelona, 2018).
